Working with Children, Adolescents, Adults, and Families for healing, growth, and change
Welcome to Sunflower Family Therapy. Sunflower Family Therapy provides psychotherapy services for children, adolescents, adults, and families. My goal is to help you grow and evolve as an individual while also providing you with support, nurturing, and the tools necessary to help you move toward strength, resilience, and change in your life.
I specialize in working with children and teens who have been traumatized and/or abused. Children who experience either a traumatic event or events, foster care, adoption, or other disruption to their lives can be affected in significant psychological and behavioral ways. Many affected children will experience symptoms that mimic other psychological disorders, such as lack of concentration, distraction, memory issues, irritability, and impulsiveness. Please see the "Trauma" page for more information on attachment issues, trauma, abuse and the interventions most effectively used with these special populations.
I also enjoy working with the adult population, as an individual or as afamily, on a myriad of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflict, life transitions, and women's issues. Please see the "Services" page for more information.
A family therapy perspective believes that regardless of the origin of the problem or who the person exhibiting the symptoms may be, involving families in the solution is can often be beneficial. Family can be blood-related, step or blended families, or relationships created through community, church or other supports. Anyone who has an interest in the health of the individual can be vital to their development. Family Therapists use our skills to influence conversations in a way that promotes the strengths, wisdom, and support of the wider system.
